Harambee Simulation Academy Facilitator


Harambee Simulation Academy is looking for a dynamic, energetic and experienced Facilitator Harambee Youth Employment Accelerator is a not-for-profit company that increases the employability of young South Africans by assessing, matching and preparing them to get and keep their first job. Harambee also plays a significant role as a labour market change agent promoting inclusive hiring and employment practices. Harambee is a public/private partnership that is funded by employer fees, social investors (both international and local) and through the Treasury’s Jobs Fund. Facilitation • Facilitate candidate learning with client specific requirements. • Prepare candidates to perform successfully and consistently in the workplace. • Provide candidates with tools to enable their success in the workplace. • Translate real-life working experience into learning opportunities for candidates in a professional, mature and calm manner • Manage positive energy for long periods of time, in large groups, by connecting with the audience and determining needs • Ensure that new content and methodology/process is delivered • Creatively deliver specialised content • Tactfully manage difficult situations and development conversations Managing Candidates • Role-model behaviours • Observe and rate candidates on the Harambee Simulation Academy behaviours scorecard • Provide meaningful feedback to candidates and bridging managers about performance • Assess candidates by using a range of assessment tools • Diagnose learning problems based on performance and understand how to support ‘weaker’ candidates. Implement strategies to assist candidates who need extra support • Ensure that candidates meet employer requirements (Assessments, behaviours etc.) • Manage the candidates in the facilitation room
Delivery of Curriculum • Responsible for the delivery of content, including specialist and customised content • Effectively plan and implement content • Submit performance and assessment scores weekly • Curriculum coverage and meeting objectives to suit employer needs • Messaging about the world of work Project Planning and Co-ordination • Co-ordinate the day-to-day operational and administrative requirements of the Client Services team. • Work closely with regional and national Client Services Teams and Key Account Managers to ensure projects are executed timeously with accuracy. • Ensure the effective implementation of project plans by working closely with Client Services Admin team. • Plan resources, logistics and facilitation requirements for different projects. • Track and ensure up-to-date, accurate and complete information is entered into any relevant databases or management information systems. • Establish and sustain relationships with key stakeholders. • Identify clients in the market place for possibility of demand for candidates. • Interact with Sector Leads in handover of possible demand. • All other duties required to deliver results! Desired Experience & Qualification • Unless the applicant can demonstrate s/he has developed the necessary competencies through experience, a relevant Tertiary qualification is required • Must have at least 2 years’ experience in a team leadership role • Must have at least 2 years solid Facilitation experience in large and diverse groups • Must have experience in planning and coordinating projects that are complex, diverse and time-driven • Working experience within a corporate environment is an added advantage • Willingness to work outside of normal working hours when necessary • Must be willing to travel for extended periods of time when necessary • Must be willing to work long periods of time with large groups • Proficiency in MS Office - including Word, Excel and Outlook • Must have the ability to translate real-life working experience into learning opportunities for candidates in a professional, mature and calm manner • Must have a valid driver’s license and own car COMPETENCIES Flexible and can respond to unexpected trends or events quickly
