The Group purchases and processes all forms of ferrous metals (steel and iron) and non-ferrous metals (aluminium, copper, zinc, stainless steel, brass and others) from industrial enterprises, scrap metal dealers and private individuals. Our processing facilities are located in and around Cape Town, Johannesburg and Pretoria. As of 2019, the Group is 100 years old. The Engineering Department in Gauteng has a vacancy for a hardworking, dedicated individual to join their team. The successful candidate must be able to read fabrication drawings, work accurately and neatly when fabricating components. Repair existing components while working accurately and neatly. This applies to repairs performed in the workshop and on site. Use the correct tools and work methods and not waste time unnecessarily. Ensure your work space is kept neat and tidy (housekeeping) in the workshop and on site. Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to: Qualifying Experience: Must have a trade test certificate in Boilermaking Minimum 3-5 years’ experience in a similar environment (Steel and or Industrial environment) Extensive knowledge of power tools Knowledge of Health and Safety Rules Ability to work under challenging conditions No fear of heights Excellent communication skills (understand, read and write in English) Qualifying Attributes Hard-working and self-motivated Must be prepared to work overtime when required Strength to handle materials & tools (physically fit) Good hand-eye coordination Ability to work independently as well as in a team Time management and organizational skills Excellent standards in execution Other Information: Job title: Boilermaker Reporting to: Engineering Manager Job type: Permanent position Benefits include · Provident fund · Life cover · Funeral cover · 15 x paid leave days per annum Standard hours 07h00 – 16h30: Monday – Thursday 07h00 – 14h00: Friday Salary: We offer a highly competitive package depending on qualifications and experience.
